Genuinely hope this goes as well for the workers as they've been hoping
Microsoft buying Activision/Blizzard is a GOOD thing. And this is coming from someone who formerly hated when Microsoft acquired a gaming studio because they immediately choked them to death and stifled them. They've gotten better over the years and are more hands-off now.Activision is a parasite. It attaches itself to anything that makes money and starts infecting it. It rots the host from within. It destroys it slowly, and when it can't feed any longer and the revenue stream dries up too much for their tastes they abandon it, leaving a withered, empty husk behind. And the head parasite? Bobby Kotick. Every horrible decision, every godawful monetization scheme can be laid at his feet. This is the guy who literally (and I do mean literally, on the record even) brags about exploiting not only players but their employees. Has said if he could get away with charging people $250 a game he would. Who said (again on the record) that his goal when he came to the gaming industry was to "take all the fun out of making video games."Diablo: Immortal? Overwatch 1 being killed and replaced with Overwatch 2? HotS being abandoned? The dumpster fire of WarCraft 3: Reforged? Diablo 4? The current hemorrhaging of talent from the company which has resulted in a bunch of content being cut from DF and a bunch of low-effort copy/paste "filler of filler" content? All of that, plus more, is the result of Kotick. And with Microsoft acquiring the two companies, he is OUT as of next year. That fact alone is worth celebrating.
The good news: There is 99% chance your WoW sub will now just be apart of GamePass. So you can get a lot more for your sub price in the future. Every Blizzard game will likely be on Steam in the next few months. The bad news: Everything Microsoft touches dies. It is extremely likely this is the kiss of death for WoW.
Well, the game really cannot get any worse. Played since vanilla and just dropped off before this patch. I tried to log in a few times a week and maybe play 10 minutes before logging out. Although looking at the way Microsoft treats there other IPs, honestly if there is a chance of getting out of rock bottom, back to the good blizzard expansions, ride or die. Hopefully not the second.
Beginning of the end. May as well see blizzard through until it dies now. Hold its hand on its deathbed.
There are like 10 companies that own everything and THOSE are monopoliesBut suddenly monopolies are bad?Come on you hypocrites.
WoW sub comin to game pass, lets go!
This is how monopolies happen and snuff the competitors out. A sad day indeed.
Amazing news, can't wait to see all the good things coming for the players. F2p WoW or WoW as part of game pass would e great.
If anything, at least Bobby's gone...But all in all, who knows what will happen in the future; just how hands off will MS be and what kind of things would Blizzard do if they essentially got a blank check to create whatever they wanted?
Finally woohoo. Looking forward for great things to come.
Everything owned by 10 companies: *Sleep*Microsoft putting ABK on their Infinity Gauntlet: “OMG IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD WE NEED TO STOP THIS OMG THE GAME IS TRASH FIRE ION SAVE US METZEN!”
YESSSSSSSSSSS. Extremely excited for Microsoft to turn things around at Blizzard.
It is unevitable to think about the future and where WOW will stand when time passes by. By Merging with Microsoft, wow at least, will survive and i'm sure Microsoft will make it their Homebase MMO. Wow is the most played MMO ever and Windows is the nr. 1 platform. Next to Minecraft, WOW will get many updates and a lot of new exciting things for gamers. No company would buy a product, when they don't have imersive plans for it, especially when it comes to selling. What i expect are even higher player numbers, quality updates, it is their reputation that could suffer, when blizzard games backlash. Microsoft will not let that happen.
The end of SoyCraft and rebirth of MetzenCraft?Looking forward to ending the furries, scalies, cute fluffy pets, snails, happy happy friends friends, etc... and getting back to actual WARcraft.
