Blizzcon Overwatch 2 Deep Dive Liveblog Mauga is Overwatch 2's Newest Hero

New Map: Hanaoka

The Hanamura map is a beloved classic.
A new part of Hanamura will come as a new map to Overwatch 2 called Hanaoka.
New PvP Game Mode: Clash
Blizzard
Clash is the third new game mode for all of Overwatch.
Clash features 5 control points, with one of them being active.
The match starts with a control point in the middle of the map.
When one team captures the control point, the next one in the offensive team's direction will be activated.
If one team captures all 5 control points, the match is won.
The game mode is defense-favored, capturing multiple control points will take more time.
Capturing control points back and forth is the typical gameplay.
PvE Updates: Hero Mastery and Hero Mastery Gauntlet
Blizzard
Season 8 will have 5 new heroes join the roster of Hero Mastery.
Hero Mastery Gauntlet will come to Overwatch 2 in 2024. It features bots and the typical Hero Mastery gameplay mixed with tower defense gameplay.
Hero Mastery Gauntlet will also have leaderboards.
Heroes will rotate seasonally and the game mode also comes with new cosmetics.
Competitive Changes
Blizzard
New rewards and improved clarity on how to get them is a goal for the team.
Season 9 will have the 5 win and 15 losses requirement removed for competitive updates.
New Competitive Overview will lay out your rank progress giving more clarity.
Placements will come back to Overwatch 2 with Season 9.
A new rank called Ultimate will be added above Grandmaster.
Emerald weapons will be added to the game.
Competitive Challenges will be replaced with a more clear overview.
The range of ranks will be added to the match's leaderboard instead of just showing the average.
The quality of matchmaking will be improved which will make sure that you can play together with all ranks of players, removing the need to have a smurf account.
Solo players' competitive experience will also be improved.
New Heroes

New Support hero code named Space Ranger coming in Season 12.
New hero called Venture is coming in Season 10.
Battle Pass Changes
Blizzard
Blizzard wants to offer players more agency when it comes to the Mythic skin reward. Gaining the option to be able to get every Mythic skin in the battle pass.
Future Update Teasers
Blizzard
A new map that takes place in Peru is in the works.
This presentation also had further easter eggs hidden, showing more things the development team is working on.
