A new Diablo graphic novel,
Legends of the Barbarian: Bul-Kathos
, is available for purchase starting today! This latest lore entry into the world of Sanctuary follows the story of Bul-Kathos, an ancient Barbarian, also known as The Immortal King.
Diablo - Legends of the Barbarian: Bul-Kathos
While this story occurs long before the events of Diablo 4, Bul-Kathos is still a significant figure in the world of Sanctuary, as the progenitor of the mighty Barbarian class. This story also coincides with the time period just after Sanctuary's creation, where Lilith begins her purge of the Angels and Demons who she suspects might cause harm to her children - the Nephalem.
There is still much to be revealed about the storyline of this graphic novel, however, the preview depicts several frames of the ancient Barbarian tribes protecting the Worldstone from the infiltration of an unknown holy faction. Could this be the first iteration of the Cathedral of Light, charged by Inarius to retake the Worldstone, so that he can better control the Nephalem? We look forward to doing a deep dive into this new lore, and hope the rest of the art is as brutal as the preview!

Could this be the first iteration of the Cathedral of Light, charged by Inarius to retake the Worldstone, so that he can better control the Nephalem?
Whomever wrote this article, please get informed of the basic Diablo Lore.
Inarius was imprisoned in Hell until AFTER Diablo 3, somewhat between the departure of Tyrael (probably to Heavens again) and the Heavens gates being closed. In the 50 years between Diablo 3 and Diablo 4, it was then that Inarius escaped Hell to Sanctuary and created the Cathedral of Light.
It is literally impossible for the Cathedral of Light to be involved with the Worldstone or anything with the barbarian tribes in the Mt. Arreat for a single reason: there is no time travel in Diablo!

The Cathedral of Light was first created by our best friend Inarius during the Sin War, in response to Mephisto creating the Triune.
Uldyssian woke up our Baba friend Bul'Kathos during the Sin War.
p.s. After our best friend Inarius escaped/got free/got set loose/whatever from Hell, he then reformed the Cathedral of Light, v2 - this is what you see in D4.

Confidently incorrect, are we? Inarius was imprisoned in Hell well after the times of Bul-Kathos.
