Well, provided that pre-order will not cost extra money with respect to purchase after launch (I don't think it will), you're not spending it for the back, you're spending it for the adventure and the cards. After all, unlocking an adventure f2p requires an *incredible* amount of gold grinding, or from another point of view, sacrificing a whole bunch of packs/arena runs. Or in other words, adventures are a real bargain for real money purchase. IMHO the most balanced thing to do is to always go f2p for packs and arena, and buy just the adventures. After all, Blizzard servers and employees don't feed on in-game gold...I can allocate 22€ for an adventure every year, given the amounts of time I spend on HS and the fun I have.

Then spend the money to get a cheaper deal on the Adventure and get the card back as a bonus.
So excited! I loved Naxx, though I agree with Blizzard, some fights were amazing fun and others were so-so and just glad to get over with. I'll be pre-ordering this in full, similar to how I bought Naxx in full as soon as possible to get the best deal! I'm sure these cards will be staples in most decks kind of like how Naxx is considered almost basic for any deck you build.
