Hah, yup. I got this last night while playing in the Underdark. I gave it to whats-his-face to eat because no one I had could really use it.
Uhm ... sure because Doom Hammer is such an original name?Like ... hm Dark Sword... or... Silver Blade?
Ah yes the fabled magical weapon Adjectivenoun. Truly a weapon unlike any other.
Glad to see WoW players are a little more discerning about easter eggs. Back when The Dark Knight or whichever Batman movie had Heath Ledger as the Joker came out people were crowing about how his "unstoppable force meets an immovable object" line was a WoW reference.
A lot of WoW players have only played WoW and might not be familiar with some of the older CRPGs, but games much older than WoW had weapons called “Doom Hammer” before WoW ever did. This probably is more of a generic tradition than an homage. (WoW is usually the one copying other games and literary sources.)
Yeeeah... No. This article is pure clickbait.
thanks wowhead
Not sure, maybe. Lowkey feels like a stretch. If they wanted to easter egg WoW there are plenty of better ways to do it, and I wouldn't say doom hammer is the most iconic WoW wep, frostmourne or ashbringer definitely take that role. Maybe something like "Icy Sword of a Fallen Paladin" with ice /necrotic effects would have been a real nod to WoW
no
It’s probably based on the mace in some ancient dnd source book that WoW based the Doomhammer on to begin with. Why did this need an article?
NO WAY! Two COMMON WORDS being PUT TOGETHER! WOAH!
There are so many Wow references so far, in which WoW is a form of DnD based off of Warhammer. So it makes sense they share a lot of names and such.Hell in BG3, one of their gods is called Sylvanus.
sometimes I wish Wowhead had comments disabled...
Guys, guys! Did you know there's elves in Baldur's Gate? Total homage to WoW. Blizzard should feel honored.
Wow... Someone is earning their wages today.
This is not a wow reference.
